NIH eRA Commons eSNAP Update
The NIH implemented a Commons system-wide upgrade on Monday, April 25th. While these upgrades normally do not change the general appearance and/or functionality of Commons, there has been one significant change about which we need to make administrators aware. This new change affects “Other Support” information that is to be included in the eSNAP application.
In the past, when including documentation (biosketches, other support, etc.) that does not have an “assigned” slot in the eSNAP process, administrators would use the “Other File” slot available in the “Upload Science” section. There is now a new upload slot available specifically for “Other Support.” Since this change only affects “Other Support,” any other documentation that needs to be included- and does not have a specific place within the “Upload Science” or “Edit Business” portions of eSNAP- would continue to be uploaded to the “Other File” slot in “Upload Science.”
Specifically, if you answer “Yes” to the question, “Has there been a change in the other support of key personnel since the last reporting period?,” you will need to enter a brief synopsis of the change that has occurred. A little below that text box, there is now a new place to upload the “Other Support” documentation. If you do not use this slot when you have answered “yes” to the question, upon “Verification” there will be an error stating that a file has not been uploaded for “Other Support.” The application will not be ready to submit until this error is rectified. [In other words, if you answer “Yes,” you must upload an “Other Support” document.]
Please do note the explanation below the text box which details the specific information that is required. (See picture below.) As always, you may upload this document in MS Word, Text Only, or Adobe PDF format, however, we highly recommend that you upload it as a PDF.
