Proposal Development and Submission
Delivering Grants.gov files to URA via the URA Mail Box
When the PI/department administrator is ready to deliver the final “ready-to-submit” grants.gov application, the department administrator should electronically transmit the file to URA via the URA Mail Box on the University’s webshare.
Prerequisites
To deliver the file, the user must have the following:- A valid CNET ID and password
- Access to the Web
Procedure
Before delivering a proposal to URA, make sure it has the proper filename. This should include the PI’s surname, the agency, and the TRACS ID as follows:
Zimmer_NSF_12345.pdf
- From the URA Grants.gov web page, click on the Mail Box Icon (right)
- You may want to bookmark this page.
- If the icon is not available, from a web browser, enter the following address (it must be exact!)
https://webshare.uchicago.edu/xythoswfs/webui/_xy-92079_1
- Log in using your CNet ID and password
- Click the Upload Button in the center of the band
- Click the Browse button in the center of the window
- Select the file you wish to deliver to URA and click the Open button in the window
- Click OK
- Note that Web share tells you the document was successfully uploaded even though the directory still appears to be empty. This is normal as only URA staff may see the contents of the directory.
- Click Log out to exit Web share.
- Immediately email the URA Grant and Contract Administrator or Manager that file has been delivered. URA will not be automatically notified of your delivery. To save time, please put the file name in the subject line of the email.
Reminder/Checklist
- Final Version of application?
- Named Properly?
- Emailed URA after upload?
