Proposal Development and Submission
National Science Foundation (NSF):
University of Chicago in the FastLane
- For an introduction to FastLane, please contact Gilda Reyes, 2-8602, or Andre Walker, 2-3466.
- PI Approval to Submit FastLane Proposals
URA will not submit a FastLane proposal without authorization from the Principal Investigator (PI) or the local administrator speaking for the PI. FastLane is an interactive real-time system used to conduct NSF business over the Internet. Internet based systems can get bogged down during periods of high traffic. The FastLane system has been known to get clogged as the deadline time approaches. Before submitting the final FastLane proposal, URA requires authorization ("Approval to Submit") from the PI or local administrator acting on behalf of the PI. PIs and local administrators are advised not to wait till almost the designated hour of a deadline to provide URA authorization for proposal submission.
Typically an e-mail or phone message indicating the application is in Final status and ready for URA to submit constitutes approval to submit.
Please contact Gilda Reyes at 2-8602 or Andre Walker at 2-3466 if you have any questions related to this policy.
- FastLane Permissions
Account Management in FastLane is decentralized at the University of Chicago. The functions listed below were delegated by University Research Administration to administrative staff at Local Business Centers, Departments and Divisions.
